Knowhere

Privacy and local data

Choose what Knowhere saves and understand how to remove it.

Knowhere connects directly from your Mac to the PostgreSQL server you select. It does not require a Knowhere account or send your SQL through a Knowhere cloud service. See the full privacy policy for app, website, and support handling.

Passwords

Passwords remain in session memory unless you choose Remember password in Keychain. Saved passwords use macOS Keychain, not workspace JSON. In connection settings, turning remembering off and saving removes that profile's stored password. Removing a connection also attempts to remove its associated Keychain item. If you need to verify complete removal, check macOS Keychain Access. Keychain items can persist independently of an app uninstall.

Query history

Save query history for 30 days is a per-connection choice, off by default. Disable it to stop recording future executions. This does not erase entries already stored: use Clear History in History to remove those. Expired entries are pruned when the workspace is loaded or saved.

Open SQL tabs are saved separately from execution history. Turning history off does not remove tab contents or staged-edit recovery drafts.

Drafts, plans, and files

Profiles, SQL tabs, recovery drafts, and captured performance information are stored on this Mac. They can contain SQL text or database values. They are not separately encrypted by Knowhere; use your Mac's account protections and FileVault where appropriate.

Discard staged edits and review/discard recovery drafts when you no longer need them. Save/export dialogs create files in locations you choose; those files remain until you delete them. Imported public CA copies remain in app support until removed during local cleanup. macOS or backup software may retain copies according to your own backup settings.

Remove all local workspace data

Quit Knowhere first and back up anything you want to keep. Store builds use:

~/Library/Containers/net.knowhere.mac/Data/Library/Application Support/Knowhere

Local development builds may use:

~/Library/Application Support/Knowhere

Move the relevant Knowhere workspace folder to Trash to remove that installation's profiles, tabs, history, drafts, and performance captures. App preferences and Keychain items are separate; use connection controls or macOS Keychain Access for saved credentials, and macOS settings for permissions. Emptying Trash or deleting backups is a separate action under your control.

Sharing support information

Email support@kryptonhq.com with the app version, macOS version, and steps to reproduce. Remove passwords, connection URLs, private hostnames, SQL literals, and row contents from anything you share. Support never needs your database password.
